International aid may combine academic scholarships, need-based grants and campus work, without packaged loans. Seven competitive Global Scholarships cover tuition, room, board and university fees for four consecutive years; first-years receive priority. This is not a universal full-cost or full-need promise. Budget about $5,000 first-year indirect costs; travel, insurance, books, visa/SEVIS and possible taxes are outside covered direct costs. Request need-based aid during admission through CSS 1842: no CSS fee waivers or substitute forms. Non-aid applicants use Certificate of Finances. Aid cannot first be requested after admission or in later years; financial documents go through the portal, not email.
International first-year applicants may choose SAT/ACT-optional review in Common App or self-report scores without a reporting fee. English-proficiency evidence and financial documents are separate requirements.
International applicants and those educated outside the US need an English exam or an approved waiver. Recommended minimums: DET 115+, IELTS 7.0+, older TOEFL 95+; no new-scale TOEFL threshold is published. Scores must be within two years and are not superscored. Applicant self-reports are not accepted; agency delivery or specified school-sent complete reports are required. Request a waiver through the portal after application, using eligible exams or four years of English-medium high school with B+ in all four English-course years. Do not copy the page's anomalous ACT raw-score guidance without confirmation. TOEFL Home Edition is accepted, MyBest/iTP Plus and IELTS Indicator are not.
The first-year international checklist explicitly provides a free Common Application. This does not waive CSS Profile, visa, English-testing or document costs; Sewanee separately states it provides no CSS fee waivers.
International first-year applications: ED I November 15, EA December 1, ED II January 15, RD February 1. Supporting documents, including financial documents: November 19, December 6, January 21 and February 8 respectively. ED agreements must accompany the application. International deposit dates in the table are January 15, April 1, March 1 and April 1 respectively; do not assume a domestic May 1 deadline. The table does not label an entry year: confirm the intended cycle and allow document-processing time.
